Saint Hippolyte

Located in the mountainous, lake-sprinkled area of the majestic Laurentian shield, Saint Hippolyte is a veritable paradise and one ideal for nature lovers. More than a few visitors to this quaint village have ended up staying for life after falling in love with its charm, its unique beauty and its people.
A village with outstanding taste
Although Saint Hippolyte is a small village, many of the city’s conveniences can be found here. The village is home to an upscale grocery store where residents can browse through an array of quality wines and cheeses. If you do not feel like cooking, several restaurants in the area offer casual and upscale dining. As a special treat, in the nearby town of Sainte Marguerite, Le Bistro a Champlain (http://www.bistroachamplain.com/) proudly boasts one of the best wine cellars in North America. In addition, there are many boutiques and interesting shops that sell everything from clothing to books. If spending money is not on your agenda, then you can spend a quiet afternoon in the Saint Hippolyte library. This local library is a good place to relax, meet your neighbors and/or sign up for one of the classes being offered.
Experience the outdoors
Saint Hippolyte is known for some of the best skiing in the eastern region and many Montreal residents will drive the 45 minutes each weekend to partake in the fun of downhill and cross country skiing. In Saint Hippolyte, cross-country trails are right at your door step, and the mountain slope is under 20 minutes away where you can find an exciting challenge and big thrills. This area is also well known for camping and fishing in the summer months. In an area that seems dominated by lush forests and rolling mountains, it is no wonder that local residents are so active in the outdoors. Other popular activities include biking, hiking, canoeing, golf, swimming, tennis and kayaking.
Get to know your neighbors
There exists a variety of clubs that will give you a chance to get to know some of the interesting people who call Saint Hippolyte home. Some of the local clubs offer activities such as bridge, snowmobiling, hunting, and tennis. Other popular organizations are the Optimist Club number 53741 and the Golden Age Club located at 1055, rue Tassé.
